CPN Professional Examinations for IT Practitioners: A Complete Guide

The Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) regulates the IT profession. To be recognized as a professional in computing and IT in Nigeria, you must pass the CPN Professional Examinations and be registered.

The CPN exam structure has three levels: Foundation, Intermediate, and Professional. The Foundation level covers computer fundamentals, programming basics, and information systems. The Intermediate level explores database management, networking, software engineering, and cybersecurity. The Professional level tests advanced system analysis, project management, and IT governance. Each level consists of multiple papers.

Candidates must register with CPN and indicate their level based on qualifications. A degree in computer science or a related field may grant exemption from some lower papers. However, the Professional level exam is mandatory for full registration. The exam is written at designated centres.
