TRCN Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) for Teachers: Everything You Need

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) administers the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) for all teachers in Nigeria. This exam is now compulsory. Every teacher in a public or private school must pass it and register with the TRCN to practice legally. The PQE is computer-based. It is offered at approved CBT centres across the country. The exam is divided into categories based on your qualification and teaching level. Category A is for holders of a PhD in Education or a related field. Category B is for master’s degree holders. Category C is for bachelor’s degree holders. Category D is for NCE holders. The questions cover professional knowledge, subject-specific pedagogy, and the TRCN code of conduct. Registration is done through the TRCN online portal. You upload your certificates, a passport photograph, and your teaching service letter. The fee varies by category.
