JAMB 2026 UTME Registration Closes in Two Weeks – Key Dates and What to Do Now

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the registration portal for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will close on Friday, 15 August 2026. Candidates who have not yet registered must act immediately to avoid missing the exam.

The registration exercise, which began in January 2026, has already seen over 1.4 million candidates register. JAMB has warned that no late registration will be permitted after the deadline. This includes the sale of ePINs, which will also stop on the same date. To register, candidates must first create a profile by sending their National Identification Number (NIN) to the JAMB shortcode. After obtaining the ePIN from an approved bank or online, candidates must visit an accredited CBT centre to complete biometric capture and subject selection. JAMB has reiterated that registration can only be done at accredited centres, not through agents or cyber cafes.

The 2026 UTME mock examination will take place on Saturday, 6 September 2026. The main examination is scheduled to begin on Monday, 22 September 2026 and will run for three weeks across various centres nationwide.

Candidates who are yet to register should double-check their subject combinations against the official JAMB brochure available on the board’s website. Any mistake could lead to disqualification from admission.
