JAMB UTME 2026: Registration Steps, Syllabus, and CBT Mastery

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). It is the mandatory computer-based test for admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Every year, over 1.5 million candidates register. A good UTME score is your ticket to a tertiary institution. Registration for UTME 2026 begins in January and runs through February. You must first create a JAMB profile by sending your National Identification Number (NIN) to the JAMB shortcode. Then, obtain the ePIN from an approved bank or online. After that, visit any accredited CBT centre to complete your registration. Your photograph and biometrics will be captured. You will select your preferred course, institution, and four subjects for the exam. English Language is compulsory. The other three subjects must match your intended course.

The exam itself lasts two hours. You will answer 60 questions in English and 40 questions in each of the other three subjects. All are multiple-choice.
